Public Speaking Club

  •

Public Speaking in all its forms is an activity in which students are encouraged to participate. This activity is instrumental in assisting students to become effective communicators on issues in our society and globally. At the same time the exposure helps students to overcome shyness and boost self-esteem. In this field, students develop skills in debate, impromptu speaking, oratorical speaking, and spoken word.

      Public Speaking

In 2015 we entered the JCI public speaking competition where students competed against other schools in all aspects of public speaking. We emerged the winner. In 2016 we placed Second.

    Oratorical Competitions

Over the past 4 years SASS has partnered with the Optimist Club of Antigua and Barbuda by training and submitting students for its annual oratorical competitions. Since we have become a tributary school in this venture, our students have won the local competition in four consecutive rounds to move on to compete in Jamaica. In 2017 Adia Wynter place 2nd in the World Oratorical Competition

    Debate

Students are trained each year to participate in the annual Inter Secondary School debate competition. In 2017 and 2018 SASS emerged as the winners. In 2018 an impromptu speaking segment was added and SASS also emerged as the champion.

    Spoken Word

SASS first team in this style, represented the school in the 2020 National Literacy Festival Spoken Word Competition held at the All Saints Secondary School on February 27th. SASS won with flying colours!
